Providence Heart Institute Offers Free Diabetes Educational Lunch & Learn Series

Columbia, SC- Providence Heart Institute is offering a free, four-week educational diabetes lunch & learn series starting Wednesday, May 5.

The classes, held each Wednesday in May from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., will provide comprehensive diabetes education to diabetics and their caregivers. Speakers will include certified diabetes educators, an endocrinologist, a pharmacist and a dietitian. The speakers will cover such topics as medications, diet and exercise plans and diabetes management. Lunch will be provided at each meeting. Space is limited for this free series, which will be held in the hospital’s Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation department, located at 1655 Bernardin Avenue. Providence Heart Institute is recognized as a regional referral center for the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease. Each year, the facility performs nearly 1,000 open-heart surgeries and more than 6,000 heart catheterizations. Diabetes is a significant risk factor for heart disease.
